New South Wales is a southeastern state in Australia. With a population of around 6.7 million, it is the country's most populous state and home to Sydney, the oldest and largest city in Australia. New South Wales also enclose the Australian Capital Territory, the location of the Australian national capital of Canberra. Lord Howe Island, a subtropical island 550 km east of the mainland, is also part of the state.

Sydney is one of the most cosmopolitan cities in the world, with one third of its population born overseas. Sydney is a harbour city with a reputation as one of the world's most beautiful and liveable cities. It has lots of history, nature, culture, arts, fashion, cuisine, design, and sits next to 3.5 kilometers of ocean coastline with sandy surf beaches. The city is also home to the Sydney Opera House and the Sydney Harbour Bridge, two of the most iconic structures on the planet. Major attractions outside of Sydney City Center includes: Bondi Beach, a world famous beach for swimming, surfing, eating and walking; Manly which you reach by boat, the Manly ferry leaves from Circular Quay every 30 minutes; Sydney Olympic Park the home of the 2000 Olympic Games; Parramatta Sydney's second center with history, shopping and eating.

New South Wales offers a lot more than Sydney. There are miles of unspoiled, white sandy beaches of the South Coast, sleepy communities along the coast or country communities inland, natural wonders and historical sites. From the rugged Snowy Mountains and the wineries of Mudgee and Hunter Valley, to the red outback or the rainforsts of the North Coast the whole of New South Wales offers a multitude of experiences. Among the prime wilderness areas in the state are: Blue Mountains National Park, a large World Heritage listed park; Jenolan Caves; Mt Warning National Park; Oxley Wild Rivers National Park, a large World Heritage listed park; Warrumbungles National Park; and Wollemi National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage listed park.
