Spain is the second most popular tourist destination in the world, in 2007 almost 60 mill. tourists went to Spain. There is a reason for this, Spain has a very pleasent climate with lots of sunshine, warm weather and little rain, especially in the southern parts and on the islands. So if you want to get away from winter, spain is the place to go to, and in summer it is usually not too hot and the air is relatively dry. Also Spain has a lot of tourist attractions, like the lovely beaches, the beauty of the Spanish inland, the Sierra Nevade Mountains where you can go Skiing 8 months of the year, the fiestas, the bull fights, the restaurants, wine and tapas. There are many beautiful cities with lots of history worth visiting: Madrid , Barcelona , Seville , Cordoba , Toledo , Granada to mentione some. Many of the regions are also worth a visit, like La Rioja famous for its vineyards, The Basque Country to the north, Castile/La Mancha to the south of Madrid , and other regions. Most tourists visiting Spain would though go to one of the well known holiday destinations such as Costa del Sol , Costa Brava, Costa Blanca , the Canary Islands or the Balearic Islands.
